VICTORY FOR PRO LIFE SPEECH AT THE U.S. SUPREME COURT

PLLDF is delighted that the U.S. Supreme Court decided on June 26, 2018 to uphold the free speech rights of pregnancy help centers and clinics, ruling as unconstitutional the efforts of the State of California to impose unduly burdensome, anti-life speech disclosure requirements. The case is NIFLA v. Becerra, (see link below).

Last October, PLLDF contributed to the filing of an amici brief in this case. The majority opinion, written by Justice Clarence Thomas, used many of the cases referenced in the PLLDF brief, as well as many of its arguments, in invalidating the California FACT act on First Amendment grounds.

Thanks to PLLDF advisors Profs. Dwight Duncan and Mary Ann Glendon, and to the many Harvard Law School students who volunteered their time and expertise to produce an excellent brief and who contributed to a wonderful pro-life victory!
